ISRU & Salam DEBUNKING THE MYTH: ISRU and Salam have been working together as a unified body on campus. I only have love and respect for students who sacrifice so much of their precious time to put events such as IAW. I really hope and pray that Muslims learn to cooperate and work together like Salam & ISRU have been unified in presenting Islam in a positive light. I would also include OMCRU (Muslim Chaplaincy) in working with students and leading them in establishing a constructive outlook. I personally know the student leaders and folks at the Muslim Chaplaincy and I truly believe that this leadership is going to turn many heads and go where no MSA has ever gone before :)

Watch out UMA NYU! you got some serious competition…
Kudos to the students – I love IAW at Rutgers (You gotta see it to believe it).

It’s Islam Awareness Week (Rutgers New Brunswick)! As part of the IAW team, SALAM (and ISRU) invites you all to stop by the tent throughout the week to talk to non-Muslims about Islam, clear up misconceptions and falsehoods, play some pickup games of Brower soccer, or just hang out and allow the RU community to see that Muslims are people just like everyone else. Be sure to bring your non-Muslims friends and encourage them to stop by the IAW tent all week!

Every night, there will be a lecture or entertainment for both Muslims and non-Muslims to partake in. In lieu of SALAM’s regular Tuesday night programming, we have decided to colonize the Rutgers Student Center for one night only for ARS ISLAMICA, an Islamic art showcase & open mic. Calling others to Islam is about more than just pamphlets and lectures. Artwork, poetry, comedy — these are all effective means of piquing interest in Islam and allowing non-Muslims to appreciate our faith. Come and get your name written in Arabic calligraphy! All are encouraged to submit their artwork or step up to the mic and show off their skills; you need not be an RU student to contribute art or perform. Those interested in contributing art should contact Sr. Islah Nuriddin at islahnur@gmail.com. Performers just need to show up with their A-game. One lucky open mic performer — be it in poetry, comedy, nasheed, whatever — will be invited to perform at SALAM’s Unity Dinner on Tuesday, April 29!
