Islamic Edu. curriculum

Posted by admin On July - 2 - 2007

Revision on my Islamic education curriculum…

1. fiqh – a wholistic approach to understanding fiqh and usul alfiqh at H.S. level.

2. discussion/debates – very little discussion on pertinent issues. Generally speaking, teachers = jugs full of knowledge, students = containers ready to be filled… The problem with this model is that teachers DO NOT have all the answers.

3. Arts – a step child in the East when compared with the academic subjects; We have many bright and creative minds who can impact the world they live in through visual arts. If engineering is encouraged in Quran & Sunnah, then Arts is appreciated for its beauty. “Allahu jamil wa yohibul jamal” (hadith).

Not to mention, how many Islamic school students know the abc of Arabic calligraphy – the highest form of Islamic arts?
