Take care of Yourself !

Posted by admin On July - 22 - 2007

‘None has the right to be worshipped except Allaah Forbearing. None has the right to be worshipped except Allaah, Lord of the magnificent throne. None has the right to be worshipped except Allaah, Lord of the heavens, Lord of the Earth and Lord of the noble throne.’

O You who Believe, take care of yourself, the one who goes astray cannot harm you if you are on guidance. You shall return to God and He will inform you of your deeds (5:105)

My advice to you:

The process of change begins first from within. The stories of Khalifa Omar and Hanzala (r) clearly show this attribute in the first community of believers.

Corzine Administration on Global Warming

TRENTON – Following a briefing by the Union of Concerned Scientists regarding the effects of global warming on New Jersey and the northeastern United States, Governor Jon S. Corzine issued the following statement.

“Overwhelming evidence has proved that global warming poses a serious threat and if we as a people continue on a course of inaction the planet will continue to warm, water levels will continue to rise and Atlantic City and our coastal communities will drown. In absence of leadership on the federal level, the fight to reduce greenhouse gases has now fallen upon the states. While it’s important for states to lead on initiatives like overall green house gas reduction, the real difference in this fight will be made through small contributions by individuals. Citizens must know that they can make a tremendous difference by simply driving less, using mass transit and switching to energy efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs.”

Islamic Edu. curriculum

Revision on my Islamic education curriculum…

1. fiqh – a wholistic approach to understanding fiqh and usul alfiqh at H.S. level.

2. discussion/debates – very little discussion on pertinent issues. Generally speaking, teachers = jugs full of knowledge, students = containers ready to be filled… The problem with this model is that teachers DO NOT have all the answers.

3. Arts – a step child in the East when compared with the academic subjects; We have many bright and creative minds who can impact the world they live in through visual arts. If engineering is encouraged in Quran & Sunnah, then Arts is appreciated for its beauty. “Allahu jamil wa yohibul jamal” (hadith).

Not to mention, how many Islamic school students know the abc of Arabic calligraphy – the highest form of Islamic arts?
